Service Body Trucks Spec’d for Your Trade.
Knapheide, Reading, and Royal service bodies on Ford® Super Duty® chassis — spec’d, mounted, and delivered across Southern California.
Quick answer: Most trades land on an 8′ steel service body on an F-250 or F-350 single rear wheel — enough storage for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical without a CDL or a wider turning circle. Step up to an 11′ body with dual rear wheels (F-350/F-450) when you are carrying heavier payload, a crane, or a welder.
- Steel is cheaper and takes abuse; aluminum saves weight so you can carry more before hitting your GVWR
- SRW parks and maneuvers easier on residential jobs; DRW is for payload and stability under a crane or heavy rack
- Not sure? Tell us the trade and the heaviest thing you carry — we spec it for you

Service Body Trucks in Los Angeles & Southern California
Whether you run a plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or general contracting operation — or manage a municipal public works fleet — the service body truck is the backbone unit. Buying one shouldn't mean juggling a dealer, a body manufacturer, and an upfitter separately. We handle the whole chain: the right Ford chassis at fleet pricing, the right body from Knapheide, Reading, or Royal, and delivery across Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley, and the Inland Empire.

Service Body Truck FAQ
What buyers ask before their first chassis-and-body order.
What exactly is a service body truck?
A pickup or chassis cab where the standard bed is replaced with a specialized body — compartmentalized, lockable, weather-sealed storage built into both sides of the truck. It turns the vehicle into a mobile workshop, keeping tools and parts organized, secure, and reachable from the ground.
Steel or aluminum service body — which should I choose?
Steel bodies cost less and shrug off daily abuse; aluminum bodies weigh several hundred pounds less — payload you get back for tools and materials — and resist corrosion. High-mileage and coastal fleets often go aluminum; heavy-wear yard and construction service often goes steel. We quote both so you can compare.
Which Ford chassis do I need?
Standard 8' service bodies typically ride F-250 or F-350 chassis. Heavier bodies — flatbeds, crane bodies, dump bodies — need F-450, F-550, or F-600 chassis cabs. Fully enclosed needs are often better served by a Transit with interior racking. Payload math decides it, and we run that math with you.
How long does a service body truck take?
It depends on two clocks: chassis availability and the body manufacturer's schedule. Both move month to month, so we quote current, honest timelines with every build — detailed quote the same day, including the delivery plan.
8-foot or 11-foot service body — how do I choose?
Match the body to the chassis and the load. 8' bodies pair with single-rear-wheel F-250/F-350 trucks and suit most maintenance and service work. 9'–11' bodies need dual-rear-wheel F-350s or F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and earn their keep when crews carry more parts, bigger compartments, or a crane. Longer isn't better if the payload math doesn't support it — we run that math with you.
Single rear wheel (SRW) or dual rear wheel (DRW) for a service truck?
SRW trucks ride better, fit tighter job sites, and cost less to tire — right for most standard 8' service bodies. DRW adds the payload and stability that heavier bodies, cranes, and compartment-loaded builds require, and most 9'+ bodies effectively demand it. If a crane is anywhere in the plan, spec DRW from the start.
Do you deliver outside Los Angeles?
Yes. Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley, and the Inland Empire are home turf, and we run multi-location and nationwide fleet delivery for larger rollouts — every vehicle inspected and delivered work-ready.
